  • Pentax K1000 Chrome / Made in Japan

Clean restored copy of Pentax K1000 - "Made in Japan" version. This popular camera had a very long production run, that started in 1976 and ended in 1990's. Asahi Pentax made K1000's in Japan only during the first two years of production. In early 1979, all production moved to Hong Kong, and later to China. Latest made-in-China K1000's show obvious cost-cutting by Pentax, with many metal body parts replaced with plastic and inferior quality parts being used. These later cameras are missing "Asahi" logo from the prism cover. Early production run units have several small distinguishing features (including serial number that is engraved on the top of the camera) and are highly collectable.

This particular camera is in EXC condition. There is one tiny "bump" on the top cover (next to the shutter speed dial) and a few shallow scratches on the bottom - no other cosmetic defects. The camera was fully cleaned and lubricated inside and out. Shutter fires properly, film transport and meter all work perfectly. Viewfinder and focusing screen are bright and clear from dust. Shutter speed dial has sharp and bright lettering. Light seals (including internal, around the prism) and mirror bumper were just professionally replaced - $25 value. Original Asahi Pentax camera case and strap and fresh battery for the meter are included.

The camera comes with two made-in-Japan lenses: SMC Pentax-M 50mm f/2.0 normal prime and Underground 135 f/2.8 telephoto prime. Both lenses have clear glass, no visible scratches or fungus. 50mm lens has smooth focusing and snappy aperture. Telephoto lens aperture is sluggish to close above f/5.6. Barrels are clean and dent-free. 55mm UV filter for the telephoto lens and several 49mm filters to fit 50mm prime are included: Hoya UV and Honeywell Cloudy and Mor&Eve. Excellent camera bundle for a beginner film shooter or a Pentax collector.
