PENTAX K1000
Pentax K1000 SE Chrome / Black Diamond
One of the rarest versions of Pentax K1000: Special Edition with factory Black Diamond leatherette. Very few of these cameras were produced, before Asahi Pentax switched to a more common brown leatherette cover. All "Special Edition" K1000 cameras are equipped with a focusing screen that incorporates a split image rangefinder with a microprism collar, making it more convenient to use.
The body of this early production run unit (ca 1976) is in near-mint condition, free from major dents or scuffs. No brassing or paint loss anywhere, lettering on the dial is clear and bright. The camera was just fully serviced inside and out and works great. Shutter fires accurately at all settings, film transport and meter work perfectly. Viewfinder and focusing screen are pristine. The internal foam around the prism was replaced, new light seals and mirror bumper installed ($25 value).
This camera comes with a fast SMC Pentax-M 50mm f/1.4 normal prime lens (made in Japan). The lens has scratch-free glass, no fungus. There is minor internal dust and one small piece of debris inside, which will have no effect on the optical performance of this excellent lens. Focusing is smooth, aperture action is snappy. Barrel shows shows moderate signs of wear, with some brassing on the aperture ring and front rim. The lens comes with a Hoya Skylight filter and genuine Asahi Pentax front cap (close to mint). Original Pentax camera manual and strap, and a fresh battery for the camera are included. Collector's item, unlikely to be available anytime soon in this condition.
