Yashica FXD Quartz
Ergonomic camera, Yashica FX-D Quartz is a pleasure to use. This little camera has everything you will ever need to enjoy shooting film. Slightly smaller and lighter than the popular Pentax K1000 (see last photo). FX-D is a capable and under-rated film SLR. It comes with a reliable metal leaf shutter, full range of manual shutter speeds with bright and easy-to-read LED exposure scale in the viewfinder, aperture priority mode, exposure lock and timer. Arguably the best designed camera of the Yashica FX-series, it shares a lot of features with a highly rated Contax 139. In addition to Yashica branded glass, Contax and Carl Zeiss lenses can also be mounted on this camera, which makes it attractive cost-effective alternative to Contax bodies.
Body of this camera is well preserved, free from major scuffs - just some wear on bottom consistent with normal use. Plastic battery cap on the bottom is a bit scratched up. Lettering on the dials is crisp and bright. Functionally the camera is perfect - shutter fires properly at all speeds, film transport, timer and meter all work great. Viewfinder and focusing screen are bright and clear. Light seals and mirror guard were replaced. Original leatherette on this body was professionally replaced with bright and cheerful pigskin leather embossed in Pink Alligator pattern. This camera comes with a classic Yashica ML 50mm f/2.0 prime lens in excellent shape. Very nice, sharp multi-coated prime, equaling in quality to the best normal lenses. Glass is clean and scratch-free, no fungus or oil on aperture, barrel shows minimal signs of use. A functional compact Yashica CS-140 flash unit is included with the camera, as well as a generic front lens cap, fresh batteries for the meter and Yashica camera strap. Very neat package, made-in-Japan film SLR, great tool to learn photography.
